Things to do in Birmingham

Stuck for Things to do in Birmingham?

Our Birmingham store is based in the Jewellery Quarter, an area rich with culture and history, and we’re set right in the heart. It’s not far at all from the city centre shops, so if you’re in the area, be sure to pop in. The Jewellery Quarter is one of Birmingham’s gems when it comes to exciting events and activities.

Capoeira

This Brazilian martial art involving fighting, play, music and dance. This probably sounds like a confusing combination if you’ve never heard of it so be sure to look up a video to see it in action. Cordao de Ouro is an arts company that hosts regular classes for kids and beginners, as well as more advanced practitioners. Book a bunch of classes, or drop in and pay on the door. Their community attitude makes them welcoming to anyone who would like to jump in and have a go at something new. http://www.cdob.co.uk/

Comedy Club

Our favourite Birmingham pub, The Rose Villa Tavern hosts a comedy club on the 2nd Thursday of the month. The tavern is worth a visit in itself; built in the 20s for Birmingham giant Mitchells & Butlers, it is a grand building full of original features. Their intimate event has a different professional headliner each month, plus three more up-and-coming acts. All at a bargain price of £5. Treat yourself to a classic American hotdog during the interval, and their cocktails aren’t half bad either. http://www.therosevillatavern.co.uk/

Bouldering

The Birmingham Bouldering Centre is just down the road from us, set into 2 old railway arches. Basically rock climbing without all the equipment, bouldering is easy to get into even if you’ve never tried climbing, as long as you are looking for something physical and challenging. Don’t worry, there are safety mats, but it’s definitely not for anyone afraid of heights! For students out there wanting to have a go, they do student discount on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. http://www.birminghamboulderingcentre.com/   We love supporting and being part of the local community. Be sure to connect with us on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram to say hi!
